Exercise Alone Does Not Counteract the Effects of a Desk Job

As some of you may have heard, a study was recently published in the Annals of Internal Medicine has found that exercise alone cannot counter-act the effects of sitting! In the last 10 years there has been a plethora of research that has brought to light the complications that occur from excessive sitting both at home and at work. Perhaps the most scary of all is the threat of a shorter life span!

Our spines and nervous system bear the most weight when in a seated position. This leads to a shortening of muscles over time and a “hunched”, shoulders drawn forward posture. This posture leads to very tight back, neck, chest, and hip muscles which often lead to pain syndromes.

Chiropractic is an essential part of the solution to this problem. As the muscles become very tight they limit joint movement leading to biomechanical defaults and altering the way you move (bend, twist, lift, etc.) . This will lead to muscular imbalances and eventually pain.

Schedule an appointment and stop this cycle today!
